This week I am taking a trip down memory lane to my favourite Half-term Getaway, the beautifully crazy Marrakech.
I spent a wonderful 10 days over an October half-term break exploring all Marrakech has to offer.
Don't miss out on:
-The henna cafe, gorgeous henna, a pet tortoise and all the money goes to helping local women in need.
- Oasis waterpark, to escape the sun, especially if you are staying in a riad and don't have a resort to escape to.
- Yves Saint Laurent memorial gardens, take your camera and saunter around the beautiful gardens.
- Strolling around the souks, set your prices in your head and if it all becomes too much, head up high for a relaxing mint tea.
- Taking pictures with the monkeys and snakes in the Jemaa El Fna, but be warned they will steal your fanta and stand on your head!
- Quad biking in the desert, not just quad biking but I'm not going to spoil the surprise. We booked through Maroc Quad Passion on whatsapp the evening before, would 100% recommend.
- Horse and cart ride around town, a lovely romantic end to an evening.
- Watch the sunset from cozy bar with a nice, cold bottle of wine,
Top tips:
- Use trip advisor for some advice on where to eat!
- Set taxi prices BEFORE you set off.
-Keep your body covered, I advise cotton pants and tops.
If you're staying for more than 7 days, you must go for a trip through the Atlas mountains into the Sahara. We did our trip on a budget, but look into the various options. I would advise doing the 4 day trip instead of the 3 days, because there is a LOT of mountainous driving. Our tour was booked under the expectation of an English tour guide, but without any warning we were put on a bus with a very rude man, who only spoke French. However, despite the troubles the experience outweighed any problems.
