Happy Valentine's! I am definitely feeling the love, knowing that I have got a whole week to spend with the ones I love the most. Visiting the new addition to my lovely family and visiting my friend's new home. My lovely other half, took me to Columbia Road flower market this morning. If you are free in London on a Sunday morning, you must make the time for a visit.
Eat.
Well it was Shrove Tuesday and the start of lent, so it would be wrong to not brag about the lovely pancakes I ate this week. There was plenty of discussion in the staff room over what toppings are acceptable or not. My favourites have got be: 1- Keep it simple sugar and lemon- perfect! 2- Mix it up a bit, nutella, strawberries and raspberries, delicious! Next time I might have to get a bit more creative though, as I have been in awe of the pancake art taking over social media this week.

Teach.
So, have you ticked roman numerals off your national curriculum to-do list yet this year? I have to admit, with children struggling with the four operations, finding time to teach them roman numerals seems somewhat distracting! However, on Friday as a fun finishing activity to our week on time, the children got the opportunity to create their own flower clocks with roman numeral petals around the clock face. The kids adored the activity. And, what a great way for them to take their time learning home to share with their families. We used the blank template from Twinkl, but it would be super easy for the children to create their own. ENJOY!

It has to be the beautiful Columbia Road flower market in London. I've visited here a few times now, but if this is your first and potentially only visit, my top tip is BUY STRAIGHT AWAY. You will most definitely struggle to return to a stall once you have started making your way down the street. They always have seasonal favourites on offer. In the summer I adore the giant sunflowers. Today, I bought my all time favourite tulips in a variety of oranges and yellows, making the whole of my house VERY pretty. For an idea of price, you can get 3 bunches of tulips for £10, 3 pots of traditional herbs for £5, a bunch of roses for £10 and various trees/ indoor plants for less than £20. If your are looking for somewhere to stop afterwards, sneak back down the side street to the start and go for a hot drink and a cake or pasty at Cakehole Cafe, a cute and cheap quirky cafe inside an adorable homewares shop.
