Happy half term! I hope all you teachers out there have had a wonderful week. I've spent the week with my best friends and family. I finally got to meet the cutest new addition to our family Baby Vincent. I've drank through the cocktail lists from London to Manchester. And this week I happily discovered the wonderful #teacher5aday. Totally inspiring! See below my half term #teacher5adaysketch posts.
Eat.
This week has involved a lot of travelling, and cheap lunches to catch up with friends and family. My favourite had to be, the vegetarian fish and chips at Harvester. Who can complain with a delicious lunch for under £10? The dish included halloumi in a herbed batter, spicy chips, mushy peas and tartar sauce. I can't wait to try this myself at home soon, this recipe sounds like a great starting point: https://foodblogandthedog.wordpress.com/2011/03/06/battered-halloumi-with-mashy-peas-tartare-sauce-and-spicy-lemon-pickle/.

Teach.
With no lessons to teach this week, it's a great time for us to reflect. I love getting creative and hands on with the kids in Maths. Since, our school has introduced the ridiculous job of sticking WALTs into their book for EVERY session, I have slowly but surely slid into the realm of worksheets. I made a pact with myself to try some new ideas this term. Our Maths is place value for 3-digit numbers for the first week. So far, I have laminated some lovely ice-cream cones with blobs of ice-cream to match up showing expanded form, place value, digits and words. I've also found some wonderful, create your own dice using pictures of dienes. The children will roll the dice to create their own 3 digit numbers. I'm already so excited to get the kids away from their workbooks!

Explore.
Whilst in Huddersfield visiting my sister this week, I discovered a wonderful, little coffee shop. It's called espresso corner. The staff were incredibly friendly and everyone in there seemed really happy. There's lots of little tables, perfect for catching up on some work or meeting up with friends. I had a lovely latte and a peach iced tea, whilst I caught up on planning and enjoyed some peaceful me-time. I was eating soon after, but the food (all day breakfast and sandwich menu) sounded delicious, so I will be back soon.
